CCT PROJECT

Church and Community Transformation (CCT) project aims to achieve social, spiritual and economic transformation through the mobilization of local churches and communities.

MOUCECORE mobilizes local churches were committed church members come together to form STGs (Solidarity Transformation Groups). After they are organized, they are trained by MOUCECORE to spearhead the transformation process among the local communities.

STGs are pillars for; peace-building, reconciliation as well as community based development.

Church and Community Transformation projects aim to empower local church and community members to assess their problems and opportunities and take decisions for durable and sustainable solutions. The project also supports churches and communities through trainings, Self Help Groups creation, Agriculture and M&E.

CCT is the first priority and the MOUCECORE’s main program. All its other programs are built on the bases of CCT programs addressing the following problems: poverty at household (low production, low income, inadequate sanitation services etc.) and mostly lack of skills and knowledge (mostly in agriculture). Through empowering the members of the community, CCT helps people to find the root cause of their problems and find sustainable solutions to them. Most of our CCT programs go through 3 phases:

Phase 1: Mobilizing, envisioning and empowering the local church
Phase 2: Mobilizing, envisioning and empowering the local community
Phase3: Facilitating church and community development work plans implementation.
In order to create sustainable and durable solutions, community members are encouraged to raise and use locally available resources to solve their problems.

CCT is about a mindset change so that people will start working for transformation in their communities.

WASH

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project is about providing communities with a safe and clean access to water and proper hygiene and sanitation services.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PROJECT

Environmental protection is amongst our priorities because we want to create sustainable and durable solutions for our future generations.

The protection of the environment is one of the main objectives of MOUCECORE. This particular branch especially concerns Rwanda’s farming population, the national economy is reliant in subsistence agriculture, which makes up one third of the GDP (in 2012) and 80% of total employment. The main goal of the programs is to increase the understanding of the importance of environmental protection and the negative impacts of climate change.

The programs aim to improve the economic wellbeing and environmental sustainability of rural communities.

The members of local communities are organized in cooperatives or Self-Help Groups (SHGs), in order to create durable and sustainable action. Some of the activities of the programs include:

  • Awareness creation
  • Capacity building of community members through cooperatives and Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
  • Promoting good environmental protection and management practices
  • Promoting energy efficient cook stoves for a sustainable utilization of forest resources
  • Community tree planting and the promotion of afforestation and reforestation.
CWD PROJECT

Child Wholistic Development (CWD) aim to mobilize, educate and change positively the mindset of the population towards child protection.

MOUCECORE believe in protecting all children against any form of abuse. Through its experience in this exercise, five key abuse cases were identified to be main challenges for Rwandan community and children in particular. These are: teenage pregnancy, alcohol and drug use, school dropout, child negligence and child labor. In addressing these issues through Child Wholistic Development (CWD) project, MOUCECORE engage key players in this fight including duty holders having obligations under the child rights cycle for respect, protection and fulfilment of child rights and rights holders who are children themselves.

With the proper agricultural methods and teachings, the production can be multiplied by 10, farmers can go from 10 kilograms of bananas produced to 100 kilograms

DRUG ERADICATION PROJECT

According to United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC), around 200 million people take drugs at least once a year. Of these, 25 million are regarded as drug dependents. Every year 200,000 people die from drug-related illnesses.  Young people are more susceptible to drug use.

In Rwanda, a recent study conducted by the Ministry of Youth in collaboration with KHI shows that 52.5% of the youth with age between 14 and 35 years old had consumed one or more substances at least once in their lifetime.
